Wintertime in Gålå calls for a

toboggan run.

3. SKIING:

Gålå is a little over an hour north of

Lillehammer — one-time host of the Winter

prime schussing here. There are 15 slopes and eight ski lifts.

character) that runs through Gålå.

5. CANOEING:

Take a guided canoe excursion across four mountain lakes in and around Gålå.

6. ANGRY BIRDS ACTIVITY PARK:

Let loose at this spot in Vuokatti. On-site activities include kids’ adventure

courses, seven driving ranges, and a nine-hole minigolf course.

7. SLEDDING:

From Vuokatti, set out through snowy forests and over frozen lakes, towed by a pack of

huskies in search of the Northern Lights.

8. RIPA’S KUPPILA:

Sip a steaming mug of hot chocolate high on a wooded hilltop at this restaurant in

Vuokatti.

9. HIKING:

surrounding Vuokatti.

10. RIDE A HORSE:

Southeast of Vuokatti, hook up with Kainuun Vaellustalli for a one-, two-, or three-hour

trail ride on a good-natured Icelandic horse.

hy Go?

For the chance to trade the hustle and bustle of everyday life for fresh mountain air and invigorating activities.

Visit when the ground is covered in snow to ski, snowshoe, or toboggan. And when the sun yields warmer temperatures,

take to the hills for hiking, cycling, and picnicking. And after fun-packed days, a hearty dinner makes for the perfect

nightcap. Enjoy locally caught trout in Gålå, Norway, or enjoy dishes smoked on site in Vuokatti, Finland.

Scandinavia and Finland

Lillehammer:

Visit the Maihaugen.

Built as a quaint village portraying life

in the Gudbrandsdalen Valley, the

open-air folk museum encompasses

approximately 200 structures, includ-

ing a timber-built farm, stave church,

and traditional homes. (1:20 from

Gålå)

“[Gålå has] the best local shop I’ve ever seen that sells everything

you need to ski, hunt, or do other outdoor activities.”
