NEWS & NOTES

Unleash your wild side at the

newest — and most extreme — of

the Grupo Xcaret–brand theme

parks: Xavage by Xcaret. The

park, which opened April 2019,

sets itself apart with its hair-raising attractions on land, water, and in the

air: the Puma, an off-roading obstacle circuit; the Crocodile, a kayaking

tour of the area’s canals; the Barracuda, a whitewater rafting adventure; the

Dragonfly, a high-speed jet boat ride; the Howler Monkey, a treetop ropes

course; and the Hawk, a 1,500-foot horizontal zip line. There are four dif-

ferent adrenaline levels to choose from, which range from soft to ultimate,

and each level builds on the one before, allowing visitors to experience as

many of the park’s activities as they’re up for. If you need a break from all the

action, Xavage also has rest areas with hammocks, a restaurant, and shops.

BLOOMS & WAVES

A new land-and-sea journey awaits on the Garden

Isle, thanks to a partnership between the National

Tropical Botanical Garden and Holo Holo Charters.

The tour, called Na Waiwai, takes floral enthusiasts

to McByrde Garden, home of the largest collection of

native Hawaiian flora, where visitors will learn about

ancient Hawaiian customs, hike to a waterfall, and

enjoy a private hula performance. (The NTBG also

hosts a free hula show every Thursday afternoon.)

Later, indulge in Koloa Rummai tais and a buffet-style

dinner aboard a catamaran off coast of the island’s

South Shore.
