INTERVAL INTERNATIONAL
IntervalWorld.com
FOR MARRIOTT VACATION
CLUB OWNERS
There are two steps to exchanging your week:
Contact Marriott Vacation Club Owner
Services to reserve a week within the season
you own at your home resort. It is necessary to
have a reserved week prior to beginning the
exchange process.
(Note: If you have a lock-off option, this is when
you will choose to either lock-off to exchange a
smaller portion of your villa, or to exchange your
full villa.)
Once your home resort week is reserved,
contact Interval International’s Marriott vaca-
tion advisors to begin the exchange process.
CHOOSING THE EXCHANGE METHOD
THAT IS RIGHT FOR YOU
Use
Deposit First
when you do not wish to
occupy your reserved home resort week. You
may deposit your week up to one year prior
to the check-in date at your home resort.
Then you may request an exchange as soon as
your home resort week is deposited. Your
exchange travel must be completed within
two years of the occupancy dates of the week
you deposited. This method provides up to a
three-year travel window.
Request First
is the method to use when you
would like to use your home resort week if
Interval International is not able to fulfill your
exchange request. This method gives you the
security of retaining your home resort reserva-
tion until the confirmation is received. You
may request to travel up to the check-in date of
your reserved home resort week. This method
provides up to a one-year travel window.
Special Marriott Internal Exchange
is the
method when you are requesting other Marriott
Vacation Club resorts exclusively (placing an
Internal Exchange request), and you would like
to combine the security of the Request First
exchange method with the flexibility of request-
ing an exchange after your home resort reser-
vation. This method allows you to retain your
home resort reservation until a confirmation is
received,
and
you may request to travel up to
one year after your reservation. Please note that
at the time of your request, you must select
one of the following options in the event
Interval International is not able to confirm
your exchange request 75 days prior to your
home resort reservation:
1.
Interval International returns your home
resort week, cancels the request, and refunds
your exchange fee.
2.
Interval International deposits your home
resort week as a Deposit First and continues to
search for a match.
TYPES OF EXCHANGE
Internal Exchange:
When you request to
exchange exclusively to other MarriottVacation
Club resorts, you are requesting an Internal
Exchange. If you own Marriott Vacation Club
weeks that are enrolled with the Marriott
Vacation Club Destinations program, the
exchange fee for Internal Exchange requests is
included with your Club Dues. Owners of
Marriott Vacation Club weeks who are not
enrolled in the Marriott Vacation Club Desti-
nations programmust pay an Internal Exchange
fee for each week exchanged.
External Exchange:
When you choose a
non–Marriott Vacation Club resort, or a com-
bination of Marriott and non-Marriott resorts,
you are requesting an External Exchange.
Owners will pay an External Exchange fee per
week exchanged. The amount of the External
Exchange fee varies based on the country in
which your desired destination is located.
EXCHANGE PRIORITY
Weeks relinquished by Marriott Vacation Club
Owners will be offered to other Marriott
Vacation Club Owners requesting a compara-
ble Internal Exchange before becoming avail-
able to other Interval International members.
All exchanges take place using a system of
comparable exchanges, which are based on the
following factors:
Supply of and demand for the vacation
weeks being requested and being relin-
quished within the exchange program.
(Refer to each geographical region’s Travel
Demand Index, located in this Directory and
at IntervalWorld.com.)
Quality and location of resort
Time of year
Private sleeping capacity of the villa
Date the home resort week is relinquished
Date the request is placed
When Marriott Vacation Club Owners are
competing for the same week(s) and these
factors are comparable, Owners requesting an
exchange to their home resort will receive
priority over other Owners who do not own at
that resort.
Thank you for understanding that reservation requests
can only be accepted from Owners whose accounts
remain current. Please pay any outstanding charges prior
to making your reservation.
Marriott Vacation Club and Interval International
guidelines are subject to change. Members will be
provided written notice of any changes.
TIPS FOR INCREASING
YOUR CONFIRMATION
OPPORTUNITIES
1.
If, at the time of your call or Web search,
Interval International is unable to provide
what you are looking for, please allow the
system to work in your favor by placing a
vacation exchange request with a minimum
of three different resorts and at least one time
period, one resort and three time periods, or
two resorts and two time periods.
2.
Your objective when placing a vacation
exchange request is to receive an automatic
match. Optimize your chances by providing as
many options in your vacation exchange
request as you are comfortable accepting.
3.
Request a week with seasonal demand
comparable to that of your deposited week
(refer to each region’s Travel Demand Index).
4.
Request a week well in advance.
5.
Accept smaller accommodation than the
villa you deposited. For example, if you
deposit a villa that sleeps six people and your
traveling party consists of four people,
consider accepting an exchange unit that
sleeps four people.
