hy Go?
For the opportunity to experience fascinating and multifaceted Porto Alegre, Brazil’s southernmost state
capital. Populated largely by descendants of German, Italian, and Polish immigrants, the metropolis exudes a European
vibe. But it is also the recognized heart of celebrated
gaucho
(cowboy) culture. Its location on an estuary of the largest
lagoon in the country makes it an important port and commercial center, while offering an immense stretch of sandy
shore. The city also boasts numerous parks.

Vale dos Vinhedos:
Take a drive inland to Brazil’s very own Napa Valley or Bordeaux. The wines may be relatively unknown, but the vintages
are starting to earn rave reviews, and there is plenty of gorgeous scenery, as well as charming bistros and gourmet shops for those who aren’t
interested in wineries. (1:45)
