Spotlight: Eco Tours
Think eco-tourism, and Costa Rica, Chile, and even Mexico’s interior probably
come to mind. But don’t discount the Baja Peninsula, which has plenty to offer
nature lovers. Here are two excursions to put on your to-do list.
The Sierra la Laguna Biosphere Reserve in San José del Cabo has been
designated a UNESCO site for its diverse and vital ecosystems, which range
from semi-arid to subhumid over its 28,664 acres (11,600 hectares).
The rugged terrain and freshwater marshes of the San José del Cabo Estuary is
home to more than 150 species of birds. Some, such as the Belding’s
yellowthroat, are endangered.
