Following a 14-year hiatus, America’s favorite — albeit most terrifying — giant gorilla,
King Kong, is making his way back to Universal Orlando. Opening in summer 2016, the
Skull Island: Reign of Kong
ride will transport visitors on safari-style vehicles to Kong’s
home island, where they’ll face foreboding jungle, a realm of caves, hostile natives, and
dinosaurs, eventually heading inside temple ruins. Once indoors, expect encounters with
a number of creepy creatures and, of course, the pièce de résistance: an up-close-and-
personal confrontation with the King of Apes.

THE SETTING:
Eclectic elegance.
Oversized Victorian banquets line the
walls, which are tastefully adorned with
a medley of paintings and tchotchkes,
giving the intimate space a decidedly
boho-chic vibe. Guests waiting for a
table can relax on the chevron-patterned
loveseat in the front, or sit at the lac-
quered bar (there are nearly as many bar
stools as table seats) and indulge in one
of the microbrews on tap.
THE MENU:
Seasoned executive chef
Dustin Haney uses locally sourced ingre-
dients to create an always-evolving
menu that blends classic French cuisine
with gastronomic flair. Though the small-
plate menu changes on a daily basis —
you can expect to find 10 to 15 items on
offer — the three signature dishes that
you can count on are seared broccoli
with aged cheddar, grilled sea bass
with potato-and-fennel hash, and a
soy-glazed pork belly adobo.

brunch from 11:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and
