For outstanding weather, stunning mountainous landscapes, and spectacular beaches. The three largest
islands in the Spanish archipelago east of the Iberian Peninsula — Mallorca, Ibiza, and Menorca — offer all of the
above, yet there are distinguishing features. Expect more unspoiled beauty on Ibiza and Menorca and a wealth of
action on Mallorca, which is home to the Balearic capital city, Palma de Mallorca. Read on for Mallorca musts.

Spain, Balearic Islands
1. HIKE AND BIKE:
Whether on two wheels or your
own two feet, get out and explore the trails that
range from coastal routes to paths through
mountains and hinterland.
2. BEACHES:
Choose your preferred particle
(sand, gravel, or pebbles) and head to the coast.
From long, wide stretches to small, secluded coves, there are more than 200 around the island from which
to choose.
3. ARCHITECTURE:
There’s much to admire in Palma de Mallorca. La Seu, the massive Gothic cathedral
makes an excellent starting point, then visit the nearby Almudaina Palace and the Moorish Baths.
4. CAVES OF DRACH:
Join a guided spelunking tour of these beautifully lit caves in Porto Cristo. The
highlight is sure to be the live classical musical concert performed on the subterranean Lake Martel.
5. TRAIN JOURNEY:
Climb aboard a rare narrow-gauge railcar for a scenic 17-mile (27 kilometers) ride
between Palma de Mallorca and Sóller. The winding route treats passengers to breathtaking views of
mountains, countryside, and olive groves.
6. DEIÀ:
Wander the steep, narrow streets of this seaside village. Deià has attracted artists and writers for
generations, and is home to Belmond La Residencia, a hotel frequented by international celebrities.
7.
SOBRASADA
:
Spread a piece of bread with this soft
sausage, a Mallorcan specialty.
8. ES BALUARD:
Ponder paintings, drawings, and
sculptures at this contemporary museum of art in Palma
de Mallorca. Es Baluard features works by notables
such as Cezanne, Gauguin, Picasso, and Miró.
9. CAP DE FORMENTOR:
Look out over the sea from the
peak of the plunging cliffs, for what just might be the
most magnificent panorama on the island.
10. BINISSALEM WINE ROUTE:
Stop in for tours and
tastings at the wineries and cellars that continue the
island’s millennia-old oenological traditions.
