For the entertainment. It’s for good reason that Branson, Missouri, is known as the Live Music Show Capital

of the World. It’s a mecca of entertainment, drawing visitors year-round with its bevy of theaters. Beyond the glitz, Branson

is widely known as a family-friendly destination with attractions for all ages, from abundant shopping and dining to a

one-of-a-kind theme park. And thanks to Branson’s location in the Ozark Mountains, natural beauty abounds, easily

experienced on forest hikes or fishing and boating on its trio of lakes.

The Ozarks are beautiful this time of year, with

dogwoods, wildflowers, and redbuds in bloom.

Walk a family-friendly loop trail through wood-

lands or a more challenging journey down 315

stonework steps toward Lake Taneycomo at

Lakeside Forest Wilderness Area. For four-legged

exploration, embark on a trail ride or cattle drive

at Dogwood Canyon Nature Park. As the sun goes

down, board the

Showboat Branson Belle

for

a two-hour dinner cruise with live entertainment

on Table Rock Lake.

1 – 13

Snowfall in Branson is infrequent, and with average

temperatures close to 50°F (10°C), the first few

months of the year are an ideal time to visit. It’s

also prime time for fishing on Lake Taneycomo,

known for its plethora of rainbow and brown trout.

Also plentiful: shopping opportunities. Hunt for

deals at Tanger Outlets; browse pottery, woven

baskets, and other handmade items at Branson

Mill Craft Village; or take your pick of the 100-plus

stores and restaurants at the waterfront Branson

Landing— you’re sure to find the perfect souvenir

for everyone on your list. And if the weather is

unpleasant,

A pleasantly cool climate and magnificent foliage

calls for walks through the woods and scenic

drives. Enjoy a round of golf at one of Branson’s

courses, including

Top of the Rock

, a Jack

Nicklaus Signature Course that’s home to the

Legends of Golf tournament; and Payne Stewart

Golf Club, which was designed in tribute to the

golfer, with a tale from his career at every hole.

Indoors, Branson’s wide-ranging museums offer

something for everyone. Mingle with the stars at

the Hollywood Wax Museum, relive history at the

Titanic Museum Attraction, or admire automobiles

featured on film at the Celebrity Car Museum.

27 – 39

It’s water park time, and Branson’s biggest doesn’t

disappoint. Hang 10 in a wave pool, float down a

lazy river, and zip down speed slides at

Silver

Dollar City’s White Water

. At night, the park

offers movie screenings and fireworks displays.

For an educational experience, visit the Shepherd

of the Hills Fish Hatchery, which produces approx-

imately 400,000 pounds (181,000 kilograms) of

rainbow and brown trout each year. Browse its

nature exhibits and peer eye-to-eye with the Ozark

fish through aquarium glass.
