FAST FACTS

one-third of all foreign visitors. To underscore the importance of this

market, a recent Bloomberg report states that a 30 percent increase in

spending by Chinese tourists would boost Vietnam’s economic growth

by nearly 1 percentage point.

South Korea is another hot market, sending 3.5 million visitors to

Vietnam in 2018, itself a 44 percent increase over 2018.

Both domestic and international tourists are drawn to the beautiful

beaches along the central coast, as well as Citadines Pearl Hoi An’s

famous namesake, the historic city of Hoi An, which experienced a 23

percent uptick in international tourist arrivals between 2017 to 2018.

Just 20 minutes from the resort, Hoi An is a UNESCOWorld Heritage

Site that was a major trading port between the 16th and 19th centu-

ries — laced with canals, and home to beautifully preserved wooden

Chinese shophouses (housing residents’ homes and businesses) and

temples, colorful French colonial buildings, ornate Vietnamese tube

houses, and the famous Japanese covered bridge and its pagoda. It is

also renowned for its signature white rose dumplings (shrimp or pork

with shallots wrapped in translucent rice paper) and robust coffee cul-

ture, along with silk, leather, and handcrafted bamboo furniture and

lanterns.

Compounding Trust

One thing sure to appeal to prospects curious about shared ownership is

the ability to travel the world through vacation exchange, Nguyen affirms.

“Certainly, it’s a high and huge concern of the Vietnamese consumer.”

According to Nguyen, in choosing Interval International as an

exchange partner, LiV Resorts was eager to compound the trust it builds

with buyers by providing them the same high standard of quality avail-

able in Interval’s worldwide network.

“We are confident that our relationship with Interval will be most

beneficial as we increase our presence in this sector and build on the

opportunity ahead of us in a growing tourist market,” she says.

Joe Hickman, Interval’s vice president and executive director of

resort sales and service, Asia/Pacific, concurs with Nguyen’s assess-

ment, as he notes LiV Resort’s distinction of being the first Interval

affiliate in Vietnam with a local sales operation.

“Vietnam is such a beautiful destination with a rich history and cul-

tural heritage rivaling any other country in the region,” says Hickman.

“The entire LiV Resorts portfolio—and Citadines Pearl Hoi An—embody

those same characteristics for owners to fulfill all their vacation dreams.”

What does the future hold? LiV Resorts plans four or five more

shared ownership offerings similar to Citadines Pearl Hoi An throughout

Vietnam — a promising goal within reach.

“Our ambition is to become the best vacation ownership group in the

Vietnamese market,” Nguyen says.
