WHO’S IT FOR?
As with all Celebrity ships, the
Edge
will certainly appeal to those who
enjoy the finer things in life. But this ship delivers more than luxury:
With a host of first-in-the-industry features, the
Edge
should be at the
top of the wish list for new and veteran cruisers who want a glimpse
into the future of oceangoing voyages.
WHAT’S FOR DINNER?
Thanks to Michelin-starred chef Cornelius Gallagher, who oversees
menus for Celebrity’s entire fleet, no matter which ship you’re on,
the meals are impeccable. Aboard the
Edge
, the dining venues are
equally magnificent. The most intriguing may be what’s known as
Dinner on the Edge. It’s an alternative evening restaurant set at the
very top of the ship in the moving, multipurpose Magic Carpet, the
world’s first cantilevered, floating platform that reaches heights of
13 stories above sea level. The Eden Restaurant, with
unparalleled ocean views, and Rooftop Garden Grill, sit-
uated amid living green space, are also sure to impress.
HOW TO SPEND THE DAYS AT SEA?
The
Celebrity Edge
isn’t just a new vessel; it’s a new
philosophy. Whereas the vast majority of cruise ships
inherently focus passenger attention inward, the
Edge
was purposefully designed with outward-facing
spaces so that travelers can connect with the ocean
and maximize views of each approaching destination.
The centerpiece is Eden. It comprises three stories of
windows and a nearly 12,000-square-foot expanse
that transforms from a casual morning sitting area to a
space for afternoon cooking classes and wine-tasting
seminars to Eve at Eden, a blend of experiential cuisine mixed with
innovative live performances and nightlife. The Magic Carpet is trans-
formational, too, as the platform moves from deck to deck. When
positioned on deck 2, it’s a dock for shore excursions. It provides
seating for alfresco dining on deck 5, and has a cool cocktail bar for
lounging around the pool on deck 14.
HOW TO SPEND THE DAYS IN PORT?
Puerto Rico is a fascinating destination with wide-ranging excursions,
from zip-line tours at La Marquesa Forest Park to learning how to
mix the ultimate mojito during a trip to Casa Bacardí with the ship’s
onboard mixology expert. Go snorkeling in the tranquil waters around
Tortola. St. Maarten’s beaches are beautiful, but it’s the cuisine that
makes this island truly stand out. Book one of the food tours to taste
for yourself.
