warms, the scenic Colonial Parkway that links
Jamestown, Williamsburg, and Yorktown is
abloom, a colorful setting for exploring historic
attractions and theme parks.
What to do: Stop and smell the flowers!
Historic Garden Week (April 22 – 29, 2017)
is a celebration of all things floral, with house
and garden tours, and special programs at the
parks. Immerse yourself in the past — there’s
always something exciting happening at the
area’s colonial villages and attractions. Or
trade history lessons for a plunge on a roller
coaster or two.
Where to do it: The Historic Triangle is
renowned for its re-creations of an America past.
Watch as angry colonists rally for rebellion at
Colonial Williamsburg. Wander a Continental
Army encampment at Yorktown Visitor Center.
Or lend a hand with the spring planting of period
gardens and crops at Jamestown Settlement.
For theme-park thrills with a European sensibility,
Busch Gardens is the place to go. Test out the
park’s highest ride, Mäch Tower.
Why go now: There’s always lots going
on in Williamsburg, but springtime means not-
so-sweltering temperatures and fewer crowds.
Insider’s tip: Take a break from history for
an afternoon at The Williamsburg Winery, with
more than 40 acres of vineyards. A visit and
tasting with lunch includes a guided tour, a
sampling of seven vintages, lunch with wine —
of course — and an engraved wine glass.
