On evenings in July, when the sun sets, park-goers can settle on
their blankets (or into rented folding chairs) on the grass to enjoy free
movies in the plein (open) air. A variety of international films are shown in
their original language with French subtitles. Past lineups have included
many movies in English, and often include Hollywood classics as well as
recent hits.
MUSIQUE CELEBRATION
Lest you think that all the activity ends in August, consider Le Festival
d’Ile de France, a month-long musical series that starts in September.
The program includes about 30 concerts that take place in venues
in and around the French capital, from historic concert halls to old
factories, parks, chateaux, and abbeys. The performances celebrate
diversity and showcase a range of musical styles. In addition to
concerts, the public can also attend lectures, workshops, and master
classes.
