A Trip for the Generations

FORREST AND MEGHAN PLESKO

|

BARTON-UNDER-NEEDWOOD, ENGLAND

Forrest and Meghan Plesko have always enjoyed traveling the

world as a family, and their recent seven-day trip to Central

England was no exception. This vacation was an extra-special

event, as Forrest’s father joined the group for the first time

since his wife unexpectedly passed away three years earlier.

“It was an emotional experience,” recalls Forrest, “but we were

also grateful to be able to go.” Along with their 3-year-old son,

also named Forrest, the foursome got settled at their home

base at Wychnor Park Country Club in Barton-under-

Needwood, rented a minivan, and took off. “Besides visiting

tourist hotspots such as Stonehenge, Stratford-upon-Avon,

and Bath, we spent some time off the beaten path,” Forrest

says. Such sites included the historic town of Shrewsbury; the

sprawling medieval Worcester Cathedral; and what was per-

haps most enjoyed by the toddler in tow: An afternoon of play

at Thomas Land, a theme park based on the children’s show

Thomas and Friends

KELLY AND DENNIS ANDERSON

GRENADA

Seeking a tropical escape, Kelly and Dennis Anderson traveled

to the Caribbean isle of Grenada for a two-week exchange at

the Blue Horizons Garden Resort. “I cannot begin to tell you how

beautiful Grenada is,” Kelly says. “The breathtaking scenery,

especially Grand Anse Beach, blew us away.” Beyond its beauty,

the Andersons also found Grenada to be exceptionally wallet-

friendly. “The exchange rate was great,” recalls Kelly. “We literally

only spent $600 … for two weeks’ stay [including] food, drink,

T-shirts, gas, etc. We did make all of our meals, so that made it

very affordable.” The couple’s favorite activity? Spending days

taking in the seemingly never-ending expanse of breathtaking

scenery, whether on Grand Anse Beach or in L’Anse Aux Epines,

a lush coastal community on the southern tip of the island. They

loved their experience so much, Kelly is daydreaming of a post-

retirement future living on Grenada half of the year.
