NEWS & NOTES
Fort Lauderdale Coast, FloridaTASTING TRUCKS
Spend an evening taste testing mouthwatering dishes whipped up in mobile
kitchens at The Casino @ Dania Beach, where, on the first Saturday of every
month, a slew of food trucks gather from 5 – 10 p.m. Eventgoers can peruse
menu items at more than a dozen trucks, from burgers to tacos to barbecue
and even lobster. Parking is plentiful and free, and you can even grab a cold
beer (or two) to enjoy with your meal. Still hungry? Be on the lookout for the
inevitable dessert truck(s).
ATLANTIC CITY,
NEW JERSEY
A WHOLE NEW LOOK
Atlantic City’s oldest restaurant is
getting a major overhaul. Dating back
to 1897 — and owned by the same
family since the beginning — Dock’s
Oyster House is a classic seafood joint
loved by locals and tourists alike. It’s
so popular, in fact, that the restaurant
would regularly hit full capacity and
turn customers away. To remedy this,
Dock’s embarked on a complete gut
renovation and expansion. The result?
An upgraded, modern kitchen, double
the seating capacity, and a 60-seat
private dining area guests will be able
to book for events.
GETAWAY TO
TAMPA, FLORIDA
SHOP BY THE BAY
On the third Sunday of every month, vendors set up shop for an open-air market at Channelside Bay
Plaza, a waterfront shopping and dining complex on the southern edge of downtown Tampa. Open from
11 a.m. – 4 p.m., the market’s stalls display everything from local produce and gourmet cheeses to fresh-
made breads and handcrafted items. Once you’re finished perusing, be sure to admire the stunning bay
views and impressive large yachts docked nearby.
