Trinkets and Treasures
One-of-a-kind
souvenirs evoke
poignant memories
of our travels.
BY PAUL SISOLAK
A print of Théophile Steinlen’s
Le Chat Noir
hangs on my living
room wall. To the casual observer,
it could have been obtained any-
where. But to me, it’s a reminder
of the moment it was unearthed in a boutique along
the winding, cobbled streets of Montmartre — a
priceless find amid the bohemian bustle of the
Parisian enclave that inspired Steinlen’s original.
Granted, during that particular European excur-
sion some four years ago, there was an abundance
of
Le Chat Noir
coffee mugs, bookmarks, magnets,
and figurines. But
something
about the print stood
out to me. And to this day, every time I look at my
wall, it brings back vivid mem-
ories of my time in the City of
Light: the decadent cuisine, the
fine wines, the iconic architec-
ture, the street musicians on
practically every corner.
That framed time capsule is what makes sou-
venirs so special. They’re the keepsakes that tell a
story, protecting our recollections and ensuring our
travel experiences endure, even long after we’ve
returned home.
To help you find the perfect souvenir, here are
some items to consider — all within Interval resort
areas — before embarking on your next vacation.
