While the site has the appearance of a centuries-old village, one of the masterminds behind this
cultural hub was actually a Hollywood set designer. It was built in less than a decade, largely with
the labor of local craftspeople and stones reclaimed from nearby construction-blasting debris.
n
The attraction’s cobblestone pathways lead to a church, an archeological museum, an art
gallery, boutiques, and restaurants that range from alfresco fine dining to casual fare, among
other features.
n
The largest structure here is a Greek-style amphitheater, where a variety of musicians such as
the late Frank Sinatra, Andrea Bocelli, and Shakira have performed.
